Kennington Playing Fields Association

THE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Association are to maintain and develop the playing fields at Forest Side and Playfield Road and to provide recreational facilities for the Parishioners of Kennington.

THE MANAGEMENT
The Committee of the Association, which meets each month, comprises two representatives of each of the member organisations, currently Kennington Athletic Football Club, Kennington United Football Club, and Kennington Cricket Club, two members of the Parish Council, four members of the public and a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. The Annual General Meeting is held in April of each year and the Parishioners of Kennington, as members of the Association, are entitled to attend.

THE FINANCES
Each year the Association receives a financial allocation from the Parish Council, which, together with the membership fees paid by the member organisations, is used for the upkeep and maintenance of the playing fields and facilities.

OUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Over the last few years thanks to the generous financial and moral support of both the Parish and District Councils the much need new changing facilities at Forest Side were opened in May 2000, which was followed in July 2002 with the development there of a new much improved children’s Play Area. This once again being provided with contributions from both of the Local Councils added this time to a substantial grant, via the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment Ltd, from Innogy plc.

The Association, with the support of the Parish Council, will continue to seek to provide new and improved recreational facilities for the people of Kennington. In April 2009, Grant Aid has been obtained for the redevelopment and improvement of the Play Area at the Playing Field, Playfield Road.
