Edward Road

Edward Road street sign

Previously known as Lewis Road, which it is said was the name of the Postmaster who kept the Post Office on the corner, it was given its official name in 1936 after King Edward the Eighth who had just acceded to the throne. After Edward abdicated, becoming the Duke of Windsor, and married Mrs Simpson in 1937, the Parish Council did discuss renaming the road!
