Temporary Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path Closure
These works have been scheduled for previous date and then postponed.
Kennington Parish
Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path that runs from under the A423 Southern By-Pass at the Kennington Roundabout, Westward to the Kennington slip-road
A request has been received from WYG Environment Planning & Transport Ltd for a temporary closure, as detailed above, for public safety reasons to facilitate underground works on the shared pedestrian and cycle path.
A Temporary 21 Day Traffic Regulation Notice is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from: 26 June 2017 for three weeks
NOTE:
The normal Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path that runs from under the A423 Southern By-Pass at the Kennington Roundabout, Westward to the Kennington slip-road will be CLOSED.
Pedestrians and cyclists will need to divert as follows:
- Those travelling southwards on the Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path alongside the A4144 Abingdon Road towards Kennington will need to divert via Old Abingdon Road, over the Redbridge, Kennington Road.
- Those travelling northwards on the Kennington Toad towards Oxford will need to divert via Old Abingdon Road and over the Redbridge.
- Those travelling westward towards Kennington on the Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path alongside the A423 Eastern Bypass from Heyford Hill Roundabout and Rose Hill, will need to diver via the Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path northward alongside the A4144 Abingdon Road, Old Abingdon Road, over Redbridge, Kennington Road and vice versa.
Pedestrians and cyclists using the Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path across the River Thames towards Heyford Hill Roundabout and Rose Hill (alongside the A423 Eastern Bypass) and vice versa, other than for those wishing to travel to Kennington, will not be affected
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, subject to the progress of the works.
A copy of the drawing showing the extent of the closure and also the alternative routes for pedestrians and cyclists is attached.
