1st Kennington Guides Report – September 2016

lonelybouquetWe were thankful for the good weather for our summer term programme. We played rounders and wide games, tackled obstacle courses and practiced campfire skits. A team entered Oxygen, our annual County competition where the Guides had to complete a variety of challenges including cooking over wood fires and building shelters.

We also took part in the Lonely Bouquet project. The Abingdon Flower Club shared their expertise with the Guides to create arrangements that we left around the village. Thank you to everyone who got in touch to say one of our bouquets brightened their day!

Autumn term began with a celebration of Great Britain’s equestrian success in the Olympics with a human dressage competition.

We have a varied programme planned for the rest of the term including glow in the dark games, first aid and international activities. Some of our Guides will be visiting Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Banbury as part of an Oxfordshire County Guide event. We also have members attending the County Camp Permit weekend to improve their camping and outdoor cooking skills.

Guides is for all girls aged 10-14. If you’d like to join in the fun, visit our website: www.kenningtonguides.org.uk
