Oxfordshire County Council is asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a new 7.5 tonne weight limit from the Hinksey Hill A34 roundabout junction, along Hinksey Hill & Oxford Road (through Bagley Wood) to the newly constructed A34 Lodge Hill interchange – Exemptions will apply to the emergency services & utility works, as well as for any vehicle that requires legitimate access including deliveries to any premises or land situated on or adjacent to the stated lengths of road, and Bus services would also be unaffected.
During the initial public consultation for the A34 Lodge Hill Planning Application, comments and concerns were raised by local residents and parish Cllrs regarding potentially adverse effects of the new slip roads being constructed – particularly the likelihood of additional Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) usage along Hinksey Hill to bypass the A34, and then re-join at Lodge Hill, and vice versa. In light of this please find the following consultation documents attached:
- Public Notice,
- Statement of Reasons,
- Consultation Plan(s),
- Draft Traffic Regulation Order(s).
Further information on the wider ‘A34 Lodge Hill Interchange’ scheme can be found here.
The proposed Traffic Regulation Order is scheduled to be advertised in the Oxfordshire Herald Series newspaper today; Wednesday 23rd September 2026, and in the Oxford Times newspaper tomorrow; Thursday 24th September 2026. Details are also available to view on the Councils consultation portal at the following link: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/kenningtonhinksey_a4183hinksey_weight2026https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/kenningtonhinksey_a4183hinksey_weight2026
