Single-deckers:

Martin Cuddy (Kennington) – “In Kennington I’ve had some concerns about overcrowding on the 35, particularly at peak times, when the usual double-decker is replaced by single. I’m sure it’s not above the allowed capacity, but it could be uncomfortable, especially if people are not giving up seats to less able riders. Is there anything we can do to get more consistency from OBC? (consistently comfy, rather than consistently crowded  )”.

Dave Harrison (OCC) – “we can raise it with OBC – I think that the electric buses programme should release more available DD vehicles meaning some of the more, er, elderly SDs should be retired!!”

OBC Customer Services – “We aim to have high-capacity vehicles on busy journeys, especially at peak times, however, this depends on the availability of buses. Due to the current ongoing transition to electric vehicles, we are indeed suffering some availability issues, that we envisage will be resolved by the transition to electric vehicles.”

Oxford traffic filter permits (minutes from Oct 2022):

Martin Cuddy (Kennington) – questioned the boundaries of the permit scheme, which seemed
somewhat arbitrary in some cases, and suggested that some evidence to support the
methodology behind the selection of the criteria would be useful.

Cllr Gant (OCC) – replied stating that consultation responses are being evaluated in advance of a
proposal to go to the Cabinet meeting on 29 November, adding that wherever a boundary is
introduced, there will always be an element on one side of it and the other. Nowhere in Oxford
will be completely inaccessible, but some places will require the use of a different route to get
there.

Issues raised by PTR during surgery session – None, although I have heard some concerns about overcrowding on buses when double-deckers are not used, and also some comments about lack of punctuality. I need to gather some more data on both points to make a meaningful action to pass on.
