A34 Oxford Northbound Resurfacing – 23-Jan

A34 Oxford Northbound Resurfacing

I am writing to advise that Kier Highways Ltd, on behalf of Highways England, will be resurfacing the A34 northbound carriageway from South Hinksey to the A420 Botley Interchange, to ensure the network remains in a safe and serviceable condition.

Highways England undertakes the majority of resurfacing works on the Strategic Road Network using a lower noise material. This material is thinner than conventional Hot Rolled Asphalt and has qualities which reduces noise levels.

  • Start date: Monday 23 January 2017*
  • Duration:  Up to five weeks (due to finish on Wednesday 22 February 2017)
  • Hours of work:  Between 10pm and 6am (Monday to Friday only)

In order to carry out the work as efficiently and safely as possible, we’ll need to fully closure the A34 northbound carriageway from the A423 Hinksey Hill Interchange to Wytham village, just north of the A420 Botley Interchange.  Depending on the programme of the works, the closure may be reduced from Hinksey Hill Interchange to the Botley Interchange.

During the closures a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Oxford ring-road (A4142 Eastern-by-Pass, A40 Northern-by-Pass and A44).

Confirmed dates for all closures will be displayed on signs along the A34.

We would like to apologise in advance for any disturbance or inconvenience caused during the works.

If you have any questions or if you’d like you know about the work please contact Highways England’s customer control centre:
