Please remember that restrictions will be in place this weekend at the Chieveley Interchange (A34/M4 Junction) in West Berkshire.
From 9pm on Friday 29 May through to 5.30am on Monday 1 June, the roundabout directly beneath the M4 and the A34 north and southbound approaches will be closed to all vehicles. This means traffic will only be able travel from the M4 eastbound to the A34 northbound and the M4 westbound to the A34 southbound. Clearly signed diversions will be in place primarily along the A4.
The M4 east and westbound carriageways will remain open during day-time hours, but will be closed between the slip roads from 9pm to 5.30am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Traffic will be diverted down and across the junction only.
The A34 will remain open at all times.
Newbury Showground
Additional black and yellow signage will be displayed along the A34 for visitors to Newbury Showground. Access to the showground will be available via Hermitage/Priors Court Road and Beedon/Worlds End. NOTE: There is a weight limit of 7.5t on the local road between Chieveley and Beedon which is unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles. All HGVs must use the route from Hermitage.
Hilton Hotel and Moto Service Area
Access to the Moto Service Area, Travelodge and Hilton Hotel is still be available from the M4 westbound exit slip road, Whitefields Cottages Road via Donnington and from the A34 northbound exit slip road (vehicles will not be able to access the roundabout from this slip road). When leaving the service area, any road users wishing to access the M4 east and westbound carriageways will need to follow a diversion along the A4 to Hungerford, then re-join the M4 at junction 14; and any road users wishing to access the A34 northbound will need to follow a diversion using the A339 and Vodafone roundabout.
The planning of all roadworks is led by safety – for both road users and workers. These weekend closures have been carefully programme around weather conditions, other roadworks on the Highways England and local Authority network, and large events taking place in the community. There is never a good time to close key routes during day-time hours and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding.
