Carols around the Tree – Thank you all who attended the Carols around the Tree in December – there seemed enough mulled wine and mince pies but may be not quite enough sausage rolls for everyone! Will make a note for this December. Thank you too for your generosity, as you raised £290 – this has been given to Kennington Cancer Fund to support the amazing fund raising they do.
Christmas Tree Recycling – If you had a real tree this Christmas and you’re a garden waste customer, Biffa will collect it from Friday 13 January – just leave it by your brown bin (but please not in it, as it’s tricky for the crews to get it out). If you’re not a garden waste customer, Christmas tree recycling has been arranged as in previous years, with both Forest Side and Playfield Road playing fields car parks being the areas where you can take your old Christmas trees. Please make sure they are there for collection by Thursday 12 January 2017.
Wheelie Bins at the Playing fields – the Council would like to remind residents that these bins are for the users of the playing fields and pavilions and not for general public use.
Memorial Field – Join the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) on Saturday 25 February in the Memorial Field for its winter ‘scrub bash. The session, which will be led by the Abingdon Green Gym, will be from 9:30 – 12:30. Meet in the car park at the end of Playfield Road.
No previous experience is necessary. Wear stout shoes or wellies and old clothes. Please bring gardening gloves and secateurs or loppers if you have them. Other hand tools and elevenses will be provide. You will be cutting back the brambles and thorn scrub and having a big bonfire so there’s plenty to do to suit all ages and abilities. OPT would be delighted if you can join them for some good exercise outside in convivial company.
For more information contact or phone

Happy New Year – On behalf of the Council may I wish you a very Happy 2017.
Anne Feather, Clerk to the Council
