The Councillors hope you can join them on Sunday 3 December at 6pm for Carols around the Tree at the War Memorial and afterwards in St Swithun’s Church for hot mince pies and mulled wine. There will also be a non-alcoholic fruit punch.
Vacancy on the Parish Council
There is a vacancy on Kennington Parish Council for a councillor to serve until the next elections in May 2019. This vacancy will be filled by co-option at the Parish Council meeting on 11 January 2018. Primary School Applications
If you have a child born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, applications for their primary school place can now be made. The closing date for applications is 15 January 2018 – parents/ carers must apply by this date online at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions or on paper (forms available from the County Council or a local school). Places will be offered on 16 April 2018.
Grants
At its November meeting, the Council gave a £800 donation to The Royal British Legion’s 2017 Poppy Appeal.
Christmas Trees
If you have a real tree this Christmas and you’re a garden waste customer, Biffa will collect it – just leave it by your brown bin (but please not in it, as it’s tricky for the crews to get it out). If you’re not a garden waste customer, Christmas tree recycling has been arranged at Forest Side playing field car park (not Playfield Road this year). I will add dates on Kennington Connected and on posters as soon as these are available.
On behalf of the Parish Council may I wish everyone a happy and healthy Christmas and a peaceful new year.
