The Council welcomes PCSO Claire Smallcombe to the village as our new Community Policewoman. Claire is already involved in and aware of the various issues within the village, including the ongoing parking issue outside St Swithun’s school.
The Enforcement team within the Planning department of Vale of White Horse District Council is* investigating the building plot at 137 Upper Road, as it would seem it could be being used as a builders’ storage yard. The Parish Council is awaiting a response.
As a consequence of the latest flooding at the end of Kennington Road, resulting in the road having to be closed, the Parish Council is to investigate the possibility of using the community bus in times of flooding to ‘ferry’ residents from one end of Kennington to the other, so the regular bus can be caught at St Swithun’s Road.
As part of this initiative the Council would be looking for volunteers willing to drive the community bus (after taking a County Council minibus assessment) – if anyone feels they would like to help the village in this way please let me or any member of the Parish Council know of your interest. Many thanks.
