Carols around the Tree
Thank you all who attended the Carols around the Tree in December – there seemed enough mulled wine and mince pies, but maybe not quite enough sausage rolls for everyone! Thank you too for your generosity, as you raised £200 – this has been given to MacIntyre to support the amazing work they do.
Christmas Tree Recycling
If you had a real tree this Christmas and you’re a garden waste customer, Biffa will collect it from Friday 12 January – just leave it by your brown bin (but please not in it, as it’s tricky for the crews to get it out). If you’re not a garden waste customer, Christmas tree recycling has been arranged at Forest Side playing field car park. Please make sure your tree is there for collection by Thursday 11 January 2017. Please note that there will be no collection from Playfield Road car park this year.
Domestic Abuse
Community Safety are raising awareness of domestic abuse with a poster campaign this Christmas – it is focusing on controlling behaviours and highlighting emotional abuse.
Controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship became a criminal offence under the Serious Crime Act in 2015 – it can cover controlling a person’s finances and their social life.
