Carols around the Tree
Thank you all who attended the Carols around the Tree in December. Although there seemed to be plenty of mulled wine and sausage rolls, the mince pies disappeared very quickly! I will make a note of this for December. Thank you also for your generosity, as you raised £150 for Kennington Memory Club, supporting local people with dementia.
Christmas Tree Recycling
If you had a real tree this Christmas and you’re a garden waste customer, Biffa will collect it on Friday 10 January – just leave it by your brown bin (but please not in it, as it’s tricky for the crews to get it out). If you’re not a garden waste customer, Christmas tree recycling has been arranged at Playfield Road and Forest Side playing field car parks. Please make sure your tree is there for collection by Thursday 9 January.
COMPETITION – Kennington Peace Mile
The parish council is hoping to create a ‘peace mile’ around Playfield Road field and the memorial field, and is asking residents to design a logo, which can be used on the information board and way markers around the route. The competition is open to all – young or old, and the winner will see their artwork for many years to come! Please send submissions, including your name and contact details, to the clerk at 93 Kennington Road or email to by 31st January 2020.
Grants
At the December parish council meeting, Kennington Whist Club was awarded a grant of £120 to cover their room hire fees.
Happy New Year
On behalf of the Council may I wish you a very happy and healthy 2020.
