Last month the Working Group, formed to investigate possible improvements to the Playfield Road pavilion, met to go through ideas and comments received as a result of the article in February’s edition of the Chronicle. It was decided, at that meeting, to investigate recently improved pavilions in the area, with visits being arranged to Tackley and Deddington pavilions. This should give the group more of an idea of what can be done and what is or is not possible.
The Council would like to thank Cllr. Biggs for his commitment in the upkeep and care of the War Memorial over many years. But he has now decided that the time has come to hang up his mower and pass this important role onto someone else to continue to maintain the War Memorial at its current high standard.
A very kind resident has volunteered to take Cllr. Biggs’s place temporarily; however the Council is looking for someone to take on this role through the coming season and on a more permanent basis.
Two residents have volunteered to look after the new flower beds which is being planned by the Council.
If you have time to spare and would be willing to cut the grass and keep the War Memorial looking at its best, please do contact the Clerk.
Now the village has three defibrillators, it is important that as many people as possible are aware of them and how to access them in an emergency. If you need to use one of these units you must dial 999, give them the postcode which is plainly marked on the box and they will give you an access code and dispatch an ambulance.
Just a reminder where these units can be found:
- outside the village centre
- outside the laundrette at Playfield Road
- Outside Kirlena House at the Oxford end of Kennington Road
