Is your child 3 or 4 years old?
If your child was born on or between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009, you need to apply for a primary school place now. You must still apply even if your child already attends a nursery attached to the school. Closing date is 15 January 2013. Apply online at: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/admissions
The planned works in play areas at both Forest Side and Playfield Road, recommended by RoSPA, were not in Fact completed in time for November’s issue – but I’m sure all is completed now!
You may have noticed that the replacement dog bin in the alleyway at the side of the Tandem is a general litter bin and not just for dog waste. The Vale of White Horse District Council is no longer installing dog waste bins, as dog waste no longer needs to be dealt with separately. It can also be put in your grey refuse bins for disposal. Where there are two bins – a dog and general waste bin side by side, either bin can be used for your poo bags as both will be emptied at least weekly.
The District Council explained that there is also financial savings to be made – if the Council only install one bin that does two jobs, rather than a litter bin and dog bin it saves money when buying, storing, installing and emptying bins.
Preparations are underway for the Carols around the tree – with the mulled wine being mulled and the mince pies and sausage rolls ordered. The Council hope you can come along on Sunday 9 December at 6:00pm
With regard to recycling your Christmas trees after Christmas, hopefully you will be able to take them to either of the Forest Side or Playfield Road playing fields car parks, where they will be collected on the normal recycling day. This has not been confirmed as yet, but seems probable.
Oxfordshire County Council has asked the Parish Council to display the waste recycling centre’s Christmas opening hours, which has been done, however I thought it worth including in this month’s article too. They are as follows:
Christmas Eve | 08:00 – 15:00 |
Christmas Day | CLOSED |
Boxing Day | CLOSED |
Thursday 27 Dec To Sunday 30 Dec | 08:00 – 17:00 |
New Year’s Eve | 08:00 – 15:00 |
New Year’s Day | CLOSED |
Wednesday 2 January | Back to normal opening hours of 08:00 – 17:00 |
On behalf of the Parish Council may I wish everyone a healthy and happy Christmas and a peaceful new year.
