Parish News – November 2016

New Parish Councillor

The members co-opted a resident to the vacancy following the resignation of Rosemary Aldgate earlier this year.   There were three applicants and after a vote the resident who was successful was Bob Bakewell. The Council would like to welcome Bob and hope he will enjoy his time on Kennington Parish Council.  Many thanks to the unsuccessful applicants for taking the time to put their names forward and the Council hopes that this will not put them off coming forward again next time.

Grants

At its October meeting, the Council granted £375 to South and Vale Carers towards their support work with young carers in the area.

The Council also made a grant of £150 to the Oxfordshire Association for the Blind, whose aim is to ‘help every visually impaired person in the county to remain as active and independent as possible and to provide early intervention support to those struggling to adapt to the loss of their sight’.

It does seem early to talk about Christmas but the Councillors hope you can join them on Sunday 4 December at 6pm for Carols around the tree at the War Memorial and afterwards in St Swithun’s Church for hot mince pies and mulled wine.  There will also be a non-alcoholic fruit punch.
