Remembrance Day

The council would like to invite you to join our Remembrance Day parade on Sunday 11th November. Please assemble by the War Memorial by 10.45am for a short service, which is continued afterwards in St Swithun’s Church. This year commemorates 100 years since the end of World War One.

Public Consultations

The council will be holding a public consultation to find out the village’s views on the proposed rebuild of Playfield Road pavilion. Please look out for details in the foyer of the Village Hall and on Kennington Connected, as we would really like to hear your views.

Grants

Kennington Rainbow Guides has been awarded a grant of £123 to purchase a new flag for the Remembrance Day parades.

The council approved a grant of £440to Kennington Youth Club to help with the repair of the roof in the youth club building.

The Abingdon Bridge was awarded a grant of £200 towards their counselling and support work with vulnerable young people, some of whom live in Kennington.

The parish council also awarded a grant of £100 to Be Free Young Carers towards their work with young carers in the South and Vale.

The council granted £600 to Oxfordshire South and Vale Citizens Advice towards the cost of their service.

Carols Around the Tree

It seems far too early to be thinking about Christmas, but the councillors hope you can join them at the annual Carols Around the Tree, which will take place on Sunday 2 December at 6pm at the War Memorial. Mince pies, sausage rolls, mince pies and fruit punch will be available afterwards in St Swithun’s Church.
