Parish News – October 2017

Fresher’s Fair

The parish council organised a Fresher’s Fair for people to find out more about the groups and organisations in the village. The displays were colourful and informative, and I hope we will be able to arrange another one in a couple of years.

Grants

At its September meeting, the Council granted £25 to Clean Slate towards counselling and support for victims of abuse in Oxfordshire.

The Council also made a grant of £50 to Be Free Young Carers to support their work with young carers aged 8 to 25 across the South and Vale area.

The Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum received a grant of £25 towards their archive work of the two county regiments from the Great War and the parishes from which their men came.

You will have recently received a letter from the Vale of White Horse District Council to ensure residents of the Vale are correctly registered to vote. Please note this is not a circular, you need to complete the form to make sure you are correctly registered to vote.

DIY Waste

Oxfordshire County Council will be introducing charges for non-household waste at recycling centres from 1 October 2017. The existing DIY 1,2,3 for free scheme is being replaced by a small fixed fee per item. More information can be found at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/chargeablewaste
