The council received the following email from Jamie Moore, the Senior Pavement Engineer for Milestone Infrastructure
As one of the engineers responsible for the delivery of the upcoming resurfacing along the Avenue, Kennington, I always like to contact the local parish council directly to inform of logistics. I am aware that you should be informed as part of the TTRO process but always like to contact you directly to make sure.
The Avenue in Kennington will be resurface between the St Swithuns and Bagley wood mini roundabouts over a series of 5 consecutive overnight full road closures between Friday 26th July – Thursday 1st August; 20:00 – 06:00Hrs. No works will be carried out over the weekend and the road will be fully reopened daytime between all working shifts.
I have attached a plan showing the extent of the works which includes full width resurfacing between these points with a 100mm Inlay treatment. The existing x6 speed cushions will be reinstated as will all existing lines and road markings upon completion of the resurfacing.
A fully signed diversion route will be in place as per the attached plan which uses part of the A34 and as such approval has been granted by National Highways to use part of the trunk road network. A S61 Prior consent notice has been put in place which will limit the noisier planing operations to 11pm.
Works will be phased to provide as much residential access as possible. Poplar Grove will be closed at the Avenue, but aware that all properties will still have access via Manor Grove. Gatemen will be on hand to manage the access into and out of both Ross Court and Grundy Crescent (cul-de-sacs) as required as well as to control pedestrians and traffic at the hard closure points at either roundabout.
It has been agreed that buses from Radley will divert using St Swithuns / Bagley wood Road to cut across to the Oxford Road before continuing up to the Redbridge P&R facility via Hinksey Hill. You may have noticed that some extensive tree clearance (5 Yr cut) was recently completed to enable this.
